We found that our service users (disabled, ex-offenders, people with addiction or mental health issues often haven’t done well in education. Learning for them is much more positive experience in a practical setting coupled with support through their other issues, done through a network of specialist providers i.e. debt advice, counselling, addiction specialists etc.

Ignition offers IMI accredited Entry Level 3 and Level 1 courses to both adult and young learners. The learners are given the opportunity to work on donated vehicles under the supervision of the Mechanic/Trainers. This gives them vital ‘Immersion’ into a real work environment. This means that they not only learn the contents of a course but how to put this into practice in the world of work, increasing their chances of employment. Giving them skills, accredited qualifications, something for their CV and a reference.
